Recently the New York Times analyzed the situation around bill, concerning legalized online gambling, Barney Frank proposed. It’s an anti UIGEA bill.
familyMillions of people all around the world gamble online and it also brings a lot of money to the countries every year, but still people don’t really like to talk about it in the mainstream media. It’s like it would be a kind of taboo or something like that.
But sometimes the newspapers New York Times and Washington Post report something about the subject. Mostly it’s an analysis about the speculation whether to legalize online gambling or not.
A couple of days ago, The New York Times published an article about the legal situation behind the online gambling, and also the possibility that the UIGEA could be overturned.

Due to the economic crisis, lawmakers could probably change their minds, whether they want to enrich the black market with all the billions of dollars that come out from online gambling every year or they want to be taxed.

Many European Companies believe that the U.S. is starting to change its mind about the subject and that soon it will enter the market legally.

Gavin Kelleher from H2 Gambling Capital Ireland, claimed in an article, that people continue to gamble in the United States without entering any income to he government and that’s why the lawmakers now begin to think, they could use that money really well. In the article he also wrote about Barney Frank’s anti UIGEA bill, which should come out within days. This is bill is at the center of new push for legalization.
With Obama in the White House, Bill’s chances are high, also because the president of the United States expressed his pleasure to play poker sometimes.
Besides, there is a study made by PricewaterhouseCoopers, according to which the U.S. could raise a lot of money in the upcoming years.

Still the situation is not that easy as it seems, because Frank has also some opponents of course. Among these opponents are Christian Coalition of America and the National Football League.
The Christian Coalition is preparing a protest to prevent legalizing online gambling. It claims that if online gambling becomes legal and it reaches everybody’s home, it could easily break families.
